Baseball Game Preview: Platte Canyon Huskies vs. Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers

The Platte Canyon Huskies will challenge the Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Platte Canyon comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Platte Canyon is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Bennett on Thursday. They lost 22-2 to the Tigers.

Platte Canyon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Haase, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Haase's first of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cripple Creek-Victor, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Park 11-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pioneers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Cripple Creek-Victor's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Platte Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything went Platte Canyon's way against Cripple Creek-Victor in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, as Platte Canyon made off with an 18-0 victory. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
