Hillcrest entered their tilt with West on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Panthers. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly three runs.

Michael Bass tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Boston Carrell was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Hillcrest's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Villasmil, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Hillcrest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.2.

The victory got Hillcrest back to even at 7-7. As for West, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Hillcrest will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
