Basketball Recap: Deer Park Comes Up Short

Deer Park lost against Dickinson back in November of 2015 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Deer Park Deer came up short against the Dickinson Gators, falling 77-51. While losing is never fun, the Deer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while the Gators are ranked 224th).

Dickinson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Chong led the charge by going 9 of 16 on his way to 21 points along with seven assists and four steals. That's the most steals Chong has posted since back in November of 2024. James Turner was another key player, going 6 for 13 en route to 20 points and six steals.

Deer Park has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for Dickinson, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Deer Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-41 loss against Clear Falls on the 14th. Dickinson has also already played their next contest, a 54-43 victory against Clear Creek on the 14th.
