Volleyball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Niwot Cougars

After both having extra time off, the Fossil Ridge SaberCats and the Niwot Cougars will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fossil Ridge is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Last Thursday, Fossil Ridge made easy work of Denver South and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Fossil Ridge never let Denver South on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-22, 25-15.

Victor Lenell was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 12 digs and two assists. Those 12 digs gave him a new career-high. Daniel Siemers also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Niwot didn't have quite enough to beat Cherry Creek last Thursday and fell 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Niwot sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 10-25, 23-21.

Niwot's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Fossil Ridge, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-2.
