Softball Recap: Marshall County Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Marshall County duked it out with Giles County on Monday. The Tigers fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 9-8. The Tigers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Madison Mason made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Riah Byrd, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Marshall County's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Giles County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall County will head out to take on Tullahoma at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Giles County, they will venture away from home to challenge Central Magnet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Giles County's pitchers better be ready for this one: Central Magnet has averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
