Basketball Recap: Athens Academy Gets the Win

Athens Academy's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They managed a 46-42 win over the Oglethorpe County Patriots. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Patriots on January 4th, they had to take a 49-43 loss.

Athens Academy has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Oglethorpe County, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens Academy will host Commerce at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oglethorpe County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Elbert County at 8:30 p.m.
