Basketball Recap: Frederick Golden Eagles vs. Northridge Grizzlies

The Frederick Golden Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Northridge 105-54 at home. Frederick has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 29 points or more this season.

It was another big night for JJ Strojinc, who went 13 for 18 from beyond the arc en route to 53 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Marcus Garcia was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten assists and three steals.

Despite the loss, Northridge saw an underclassman step up: Drake Walker scored 26 points. That was a full 48.1% of Northridge's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Lyons, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Frederick, bringing their record for this year to 10-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.0 points per game. As for Northridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frederick won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Roosevelt is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Northridge, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.
