Softball Game Preview: Jamestown Eagles vs. Smithfield Packers

Jamestown is 1-9 against Smithfield since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will welcome the Packers at 4:30 p.m. Jamestown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Friday just wasn't the day for Jamestown's offense. They lost 8-0 to York on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jamestown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Mayes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Smithfield hadn't done well against Grafton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Packers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Clippers, sneaking past 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Packers.

Jamestown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Smithfield, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Jamestown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Smithfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .514. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
