Softball Recap: Carlisle County's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Carlisle County had lost seven games straight , but after bumping their record up to 2-10 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Calloway County Lakers 17-8. Considering the Comets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

As for Calloway County, they are on an 18-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-18. On the bright side, the eight- run performance marked their highest-scoring contest to date.

For Calloway County's part, Lyla Ward made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that Ward has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Cain, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Carlisle County will square off against Marshall County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Calloway County, they will take on Caldwell County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Lakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
