Basketball Game Preview: Beloit Trojans vs. Holcomb Longhorns

The Beloit Trojans will take on the Holcomb Longhorns at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Beloit is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Beloit can't be too worried about heading out to take on Holcomb: they just beat Southwestern Heights at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Beloit took down Southwestern Heights 67-49 on Thursday.

Addison Budke continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cassandra Thompson, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds.

Beloit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Holcomb had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 45-36 victory over Scott on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Longhorns.

Beloit's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Holcomb, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5.
