Baseball Recap: Navajo Prep Victorious

Navajo Prep hadn't done well against Rehoboth Christian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Fightin Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lynx 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fightin Eagles have posted since March 7th.

Dontayus Tsosie was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Navajo Prep is 4-1 when Tsosie posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Dodge, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Navajo Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Rehoboth Christian fell to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Navajo Prep will challenge Wingate at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rehoboth Christian, they will take on Shiprock at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lynx's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chieftains have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
