Basketball Preview: Cherryville Ironmen vs. West Lincoln Rebels
Cherryville is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will challenge the West Lincoln Rebels at 6:30 p.m. Cherryville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Cherryville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Pinnacle Classical Academy 72-34. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Ironmen with their most commanding win of the season.
Meanwhile, West Lincoln was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Bunker Hill, falling 74-52. The Rebels were down 60-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Cherryville will have to keep a close watch on Landon Blevins and Jackson Edwards, a pair of players who had a big impact on West Lincoln's prior game. Blevins went 5-for-9 to rack up 21 points and six boards, while Edwards shot 56% from the field on his way to 11 points and five rebounds. Edwards has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Solomon Robinson was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.
West Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cherryville, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
