Softball Recap: Licking Heights Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Licking Heights ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Watkins Memorial Warriors. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered an 8-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Natalie Mahoney spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily Meidl, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

The win (which was Licking Heights' fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Watkins Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
