Softball Recap: New Hartford Has No Trouble Against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill

New Hartford won the last time they faced Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five games by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Scranton was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabby Trunfio, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

New Hartford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

New Hartford's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Hartford will venture away from home to face off against Guilderland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, they will head out to challenge Clinton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
