Soccer Game Preview: Davis vs. West Valley

The Davis Pirates are taking a road trip to square off against the West Valley Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Davis has three straight victories, West Valley has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Davis and Sunnyside meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Pirates won by a goal and slipped past the Grizzlies 2-1. That's two games straight that Davis have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for West Valley's offense. They fell just short of Eastmont by a score of 1-0 on Friday.

West Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Davis, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.

Everything went Davis' way against West Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Davis made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
