Baseball Game Preview: St. Michaels Saints vs. Colonel Richardson Colonels

St. Michaels hasn't had much luck against Colonel Richardson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Saints will be playing at home against the Colonels at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Michaels comes in on three and Colonel Richardson on five.

While St. Michaels' win against Cambridge-South Dorchester wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Saints had just enough and edged out the Vikings 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since April 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, while Colonel Richardson put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Kent County. The Colonels were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Trojans. The result was nothing new for the Colonels, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jack Walls was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Derrick Mitchell was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was TJ Wegner, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

St. Michaels' win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Colonel Richardson, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

St. Michaels beat Colonel Richardson 9-4 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Colonels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
