Lake Region (9 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Warner extended the longest winning streak in Lake Region (9 Man) this week by beating Langford, 45-13. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Faulkton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kurt Beidler threw for 222 and two touchdowns and Cole Baloun had 71 yards receiving. On the ground Darin Wieseler chipped in 154 yards. Wieseler helped Faulkton's passing attack out by catching two balls for 44 yards.

Alex Eschenbaum made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Trojans lost to Leola/Frederick. The 5-foot-10 junior grabbed one interception and recorded one fumble.

Ipswich/Edmunds Central's Lane Myer and Brayden Thares have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Myer has thrown for 774 yards this season, while Thares, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 18 catches for 364 yards. Faulkton's Wieseler leads the league in rushing yards with 889.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Warner takes on the Tigers. As it stands, Tom Kulesa's team is in first, while Ipswich/Edmunds Central is in fourth.

Shayne Geditz's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 577 from 632. The advance stemmed from a 48-32 victory over the Trojans last week.
