The Central Valley Warriors will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the South Side Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Central Valley is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Keystone Oaks. Central Valley was the clear victor by a 16-7 margin over Keystone Oaks last Monday.
Emma Weaver made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Weaver was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, London Banks was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Rizor, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI and one run.
Central Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Keystone Oaks only posted an OBP of .382.
Meanwhile, South Side was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Carlynton by a score of 11-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rams' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Maya Ringhoff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.4 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Kenidi Cook was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Morrow, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Central Valley couldn't quite get it done against South Side when the teams last played back in April of 2022 as they fell 6-3. Will Central Valley have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
