Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Gladstone's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gladstone can now relate to. They fell 5-2 to the Scappoose Indians on Tuesday. The Gladiators' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Ashlynne Franssen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Gladstone's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Scappoose, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-6.

Gladstone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Scappoose, they will challenge La Grande on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 2.8, the Tigers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
