Baseball Recap: St. Clair Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

St. Clair came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Hermann Bearcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Easton Martin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Martin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Bradshaw, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hawks, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

St. Clair was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive contests.

St. Clair's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Hermann, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Clair will venture away from home to face off against Union at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hermann, they will head out on the road to square off against St. James at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
