Softball Recap: Gordo Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Gordo won the last time they faced Lamar County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Gordo Green Wave came out on top against the Lamar County Bulldogs by a score of 9-4. While the Green Wave didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-20-2), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Isabella Billings, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Khune, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Billings wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Gordo lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Gordo's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lamar County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Gordo will be playing in front of their home fans against South Lamar at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lamar County, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lynn at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
