Baseball Recap: Pickerington Central Takes a Loss

Pickerington Central had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-7 to make it four. They came up short against the Bishop Hartley Hawks, falling 10-3. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in April of 2019.

Cole Metz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Ty Hudson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Bishop Hartley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

On Bishop Hartley's side, Braydon McConnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. McConnell has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Michael Pastoria was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Matt Galich, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Pickerington Central will challenge Logan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Hartley, they will face off against Fairfield Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hawks 4.1, the Knights 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
