Basketball Recap: Greencastle Extends Winning Streak to Three

Greencastle waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the South Vermillion Wildcats by a score of 68-60. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tiger Cubs also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Greencastle's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Sutherlin, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 23 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Sam Gooch, who went 10 for 13 en route to 22 points and five rebounds.

South Vermillion's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dallas Coleman, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Weir, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points and five assists.

Greencastle's record now sits at 9-5. As for South Vermillion, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Greencastle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-62 win against Danville on the 25th. As for South Vermillion, they will square off against Shakamak at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
