Baseball Recap: Oakdale Takes a Loss

Oakdale had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-16 to make it five. They lost 11-0 to the Greenback Cherokees. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Oakdale saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Butler, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Greenback, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

On Greenback's side, Kolden Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Williams has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Greenback: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Carter Hankins looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

Oakdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greenback, they will square off against Maryville Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
