Football Recap: Osborne Cardinals vs. Banneker Trojans
Osborne unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Banneker Trojans on Friday, falling 32-9. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Lavaris Monroe and Donnavan Freeman. Monroe rushed for 180 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries while Freeman rushed for 151 yards and one TD on only ten carries. Those 151 rushing yards gave Freeman a new career-high. Banneker also got help from Tyrone Benton, who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.
Coming up, Osborne will venture away from home to take on Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Banneker, they will welcome South Cobb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
