Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Piles Up the Points Against Arcadia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mesquite, St. Mary was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Arcadia Titans, posting a 50-21 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 42-13 last Friday.

St. Mary's was led to victory by Ava Sierras and Gwen Carter. Sierras posted 13 points and six steals, while Carter went 7 for 14 en route to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Sierras a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Frannie Horn, who earned six points and six rebounds.

St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Arcadia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

St. Mary's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-61 defeat against Cactus Shadows on the 21st. As for Arcadia, they will square off against Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mesquite knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Arcadia likes a good challenge.
