Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Trace Raiders vs. Crestview Knights

Wayne Trace is 2-8 against Crestview since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Wayne Trace beats Crestview with 52 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Raiders beat Edgerton on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 52-30. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Crestview ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Versailles by a score of 51-43. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Knights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Tigers are ranked 83rd).

Crestview's win came from a few key players that Wayne Trace will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Haley McCoy, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 15 points and six boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaci Gregory, who posted 11 points and six steals.

Crestview now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Wayne Trace, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.

Things could have been worse for Wayne Trace, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-26 loss to Crestview in their previous matchup back in December of 2024.
