Merino waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on Akron with a sharp 3-0 win. Merino has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Akron, too.

The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-12, 25-17.

Merino's victory bumped their record up to 21-2. As for Akron, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Merino does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Akron, after both having extra time off, they and Flatirons Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
