Lassiter is 1-9 against Pope since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lassiter Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Pope Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky.

Lassiter waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Blessed Trinity with a sharp 58-38 victory. Given Lassiter's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Blessed Trinity is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lassiter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cal Liston out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyhir Torrence, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Pope over Johns Creek in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Everything went Pope's way against Johns Creek as Pope made off with a 53-28 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pope.

Lassiter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Pope, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.

Lassiter came up short against Pope in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 52-47. Can Lassiter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
