Softball Recap: Metuchen Takes a Loss

Metuchen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 13-7 to the Old Bridge Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 on April 1st.

Alicia Montalbano was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Mindler, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Metuchen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Old Bridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Metuchen and Old Bridge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 314th) will meet St. Thomas Aquinas (ranked 15th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Old Bridge will take on South Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (174 vs. 38).
