Softball Game Preview: Old Saybrook Rams vs. East Hampton Bellringers

Old Saybrook is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the East Hampton Bellringers at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Old Saybrook can't be too happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Thursday. They came up short against Valley Regional, falling 12-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, East Hampton lost 13-1 to Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial on Friday. The game marked the Bellringers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

East Hampton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shea Gaughran, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Old Saybrook beat East Hampton 10-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
