Softball Recap: Arroyo Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Arroyo walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the Berkeley Yellowjackets 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won six in a row.

Sadie Fernandez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aneesa Aguon, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

Arroyo pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Berkeley, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-15 record.
