Softball Game Preview: Bath Wildcats vs. Bellefontaine Chieftains

The Bath Wildcats will face off against the Bellefontaine Chieftains at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Bath is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Bath's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Ottawa-Glandorf. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.

Alycen Stumbaugh and Mara Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Stumbaugh went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Davis went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Davis' first of the season. Addi Gibson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Bath hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

London hit Bellefontaine with a seven-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains fell 10-6 to the Red Raiders.

Bellefontaine's loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Bath, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Bath might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Bellefontaine in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
