Basketball Recap: Western Comes Up Short

Western lost against Cimarron-Memorial back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Western Warriors were dealt an 80-51 loss at the hands of the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Spartans are ranked 11th).

Daniel Brown was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards for Cimarron-Memorial. Those 12 rebounds gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Patterson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Western's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Western and Desert Oasis will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Western is facing Desert Oasis at the right time seeing as Desert Oasis is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they and Valley will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Cimarron-Memorial sitting on four straight victories and Valley on three.
