Football Game Preview: Inglewood Sentinels vs. Capistrano Valley Cougars + How To Watch

Two dominant signal callers in Lincoln Jahn and Talon Spencer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Inglewood Sentinels are taking a road trip to challenge the Capistrano Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Inglewood has given up an average of 27.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Inglewood will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Culver City on Friday. The Sentinels came out on top against the Centaurs by a score of 47-35. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Sentinels' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Centaurs are ranked 257th).

Andre Nickerson was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 64 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and also rushed for 30 yards and two TDs. Those 30 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Masyn Harvey did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 83 receiving yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Inglewood's defensive line and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Myels Smith and Cleavon Mouton, who racked up seven sacks between them. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Capistrano Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost to Tustin at home by a 35-20 margin. The Cougars were down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

The victory got Inglewood back to even at 5-5. As for Capistrano Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.
