Baseball Recap: Pine-Richland Takes a Loss

Pine-Richland and Shaler Area squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Pine-Richland had to settle for second. They fell 5-2 to the Titans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Titans this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-0 defeat back in April.

Keegan Deihl was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 7.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pine-Richland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Heckert, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Heckert has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Pine-Richland's loss dropped their record down to 20-4-1. As for Shaler Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Pine-Richland nor Shaler Area have any future games scheduled.
