Basketball Recap: Dunwoody Wildcats vs. Tri-Cities Bulldogs
Dunwoody lost against Tri-Cities back in January of 2016 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Dunwoody Wildcats took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tri-Cities Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 17th).
Despite the defeat, Dunwoody had strong showings from Eli Merritt, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points, and Emerson Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Mason Scharf also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.
Leading Tri-Cities to victory were Tre Keith and Jalan Wingfield. Keith went 6 of 14 en route to 19 points in addition to eight assists and eight rebounds, while Wingfield dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Keith has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carby Martin, who posted 13 points and five boards.
This is the second loss in a row for Dunwoody and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for Tri-Cities, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Dunwoody didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-58 loss against Decatur on the 14th. Tri-Cities has also already played their next matchup, a 79-63 win against Arabia Mountain on the 14th.
