Santa Fe and Friendswood are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. Santa Fe will head out to challenge Friendswood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Santa Fe 3.9, Friendswood 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Santa Fe is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering La Porte just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bulldogs since on Friday.

Santa Fe saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Cantrell, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Friendswood hadn't beaten La Porte on the road since April 9, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them last Tuesday. Friendswood was the clear victor by an 11-3 margin over La Porte. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Friendswood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Santa Fe's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.

Santa Fe was able to grind out a solid win over Friendswood when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Fe since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
