The biggest upset of the week belonged to Northwest Area, who took down 390th ranked Northwest Area, 14-13.
Hanover Area's Casey O'Mack rumbled for the longest rushing play in Wyoming Valley 2A/1A this season in his game against Holy Redeemer last week. O'Mack's team lost to the Royals as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 158 in all.
Wyoming Area's dynamic duo of Nick O?brien and Jordan Zezza proved tough for GAR Memorial to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. O?brien threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns and Zezza had 82 yards receiving. Marty Michaels helped Wyoming Area's passing attack out by catching three balls for 72 yards.
The Grenadiers' Corey Moore and Lucas Benton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moore has thrown for 1259 yards this season, while Benton, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 41 catches for 610 yards. The Warriors' O?brien leads the league in rushing yards with 1198.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Wyoming Area takes on the Rangers. Randy Spencer's team's offense has racked up 302 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Northwest Area has allowed only 107 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Warriors take on Carl Majer's team. Wyoming Area has allowed 124 points this season, while the Rangers have given up 107. The Warriors allowed 15 points last week as they bested GAR Memorial.
Wyoming Area moved up to 209 from 247 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Wyoming Valley 2A/1A. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Paul Wiedlich's team 48-15.
