Volleyball Recap: Whitewater Whippets vs. Catholic Central Hilltoppers
Whitewater unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Catholic Central Hilltoppers by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Whippets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hilltoppers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Whitewater sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 21-25, 15-12.
Catholic Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabella Arrieta led the charge by getting five kills and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Arrieta a new career-high in assists (14). Karley Loos was another key player, getting 12 kills and one block.
Coincidentally, Whitewater and Catholic Central will both be playing Stoughton the next time they take the court. The Hilltoppers will head out to face the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Whippets will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
