Basketball Recap: Hillside Hornets vs. Chapel Hill Tigers

Hillside easily dispatched Northern Durham last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Hillside Hornets fell just short of the Chapel Hill Tigers by a score of 67-64 on Tuesday. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mekhi Sneed, who posted 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaliq Lassiter, who had 21 points.

Jeremiah 'Juice' Mcilwaine continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chapel Hill, going 10-for-12 on his way to 24 points and eight boards. Mcilwaine is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last eight games he's played. Deuce Geer also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Hillside's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Chapel Hill, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-8.

Hillside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chapel Hill, they will take on Jordan at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jordan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Chapel Hill likes a good challenge.
