Baseball Recap: Shadow Ridge Falls Short Against Ranked Foothill

Shadow Ridge faced Foothill in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs fell 9-6 to the Falcons. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Samuel Stahl was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Shadow Ridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Mason Markowitz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Shadow Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Foothill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shadow Ridge will host Green Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Foothill, they will be playing at home against Silverado at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
