The Morse Tigers will challenge the Sweetwater Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sweetwater will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Morse extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past Chula Vista Learning Community Charter 19-9. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Reylyn Sakamoto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.
In other batting news, Dana Montero was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Camryn Salvador, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Morse kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Sweetwater hadn't done well against Hilltop recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 14-3 win.
Tatyana Mosqueda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 14 hits.
On the hitting side, Sweetwater got a massive performance out of Gabriella Sena, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Silva, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Sweetwater pushed their record up to 11-1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Morse, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Morse hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Sweetwater struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Morse took their win against Sweetwater in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
