Basketball Recap: Kevin Bryant Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat West Iredell

West Iredell typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Statesville proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged the West Iredell Warriors out 78-76. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Greyhounds also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Statesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kevin Bryant led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Bryant is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Tillman, who went 7 of 14 en route to 16 points and four steals.

Statesville was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, West Iredell still got an impressive performance from Jordan Patterson, who went 10 of 17 on his way to 32 points along with eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of David Bunton, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Statesville pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for West Iredell, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Statesville will welcome North Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Statesville is facing North Iredell at the right time seeing as North Iredell is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for West Iredell, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hickory at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Hickory's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
