Football Recap: Maynard Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Maynard played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 49-6 loss at the hands of the Clinton Gaels. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

Clinton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavin Naughton out in front who rushed for 89 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. What's more, Naughton posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Connor Cox got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Maynard and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Clinton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maynard will welcome Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' defense has only allowed nine points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Clinton, they will face off against Nipmuc Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gaels will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
