The Bishop Ready Silver Knights will head out to take on the Hilliard Darby Panthers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bishop Ready is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Bishop Ready took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Franklin Heights 18-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Silver Knights considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Natalie Wohrle was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Sanchez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Bishop Ready always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Hilliard Darby ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past Hilliard Davidson 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 14th.
Marley Grigsby spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lorelai Gum, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Kaydence Speelman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bishop Ready's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Hilliard Darby, they moved to 14-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop Ready has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Hilliard Darby struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
