Preview: Garden County Eagles vs. Leyton Warriors
Garden County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Leyton Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Garden County proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 23) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Potter-Dix and snuck past 42-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Garden County has posted yet this season.
Garden County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Payton Fornander out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Fornander continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Karma Peterson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Leyton can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 76-8 win over Minatare at home. With Leyton ahead 41-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Garden County's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Leyton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-1.
Garden County lost to Leyton on the road by a decisive 49-33 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Garden County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
