Basketball Recap: Westfield Skates Past Benjamin Davis with Ease

Westfield entered their tilt with Benjamin Davis on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Benjamin Davis Falcons 62-27. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Falcons are ranked 1073rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Westfield to victory were Jade Francis and Saniya Broomfield. Francis dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards, while Broomfield posted nine points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Broomfield is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jameriah Butler, who had ten points.

Westfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Benjamin Davis, they dropped their record down to 7-18 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Westfield will head out to challenge Eisenhower at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Benjamin Davis has already played their next contest (against MacArthur), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
