Football Game Preview: Fairview Warriors vs. Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves

For the first time this season, Fairview will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fairview is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Trinity: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Warriors blew the Trojans out of the water with a 44-7 final score. The Warriors pushed the score to 37-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had little chance of recovering from.

Fairview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Burke Lowry, who threw for 337 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. Lowry's passing game has become a key predictor of the Warriors' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Cal Reis was Lowry's top target, picking up 117 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Cuyahoga Heights not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 25, 2024 (when they won 41-8). They blew past Independence 35-13. Surprisingly, this marked the Red Wolves' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Cuyahoga Heights pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games. As for Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Things could have been worse for Fairview, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-13 loss to Cuyahoga Heights in their previous meeting back in August of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
