Volleyball Recap: Elmwood Park Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Elmwood Park duked it out with Putnam County on Saturday. The Tigers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Saturday.

Elmwood Park started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-14, 25-21.

Nikolija Bulatovic paced Elmwood Park's offense, picking up 11 kills. Bulatovic really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 18. Finally, Jailani Rodriguez and Leilani Mendez kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Elmwood Park has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Putnam County, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Elmwood Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Westmont on the 29th. As for Putnam County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Gardner-South Wilmington on the 29th.
